The drive from Al Massira to the coast
Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA) lies inland, about 25 km south-east of Agadir. Taghazout is on the other side of the city, 19 km north of it. The car takes the expressway round the eastern edge of Agadir, then joins the N1 coast road at the port and follows the Atlantic north through Aourir, known as Banana Village, and Tamraght. The whole run is 45 km and takes about 50 minutes. Traffic thickens around Aourir on market day, Wednesday, and on summer evenings when Agadir heads for the beaches.
Pickup at AGA, drop-off in Taghazout with boards
The driver waits at the arrivals exit of the single terminal with a name sign. Oversized baggage, including board bags, often comes out a little after the suitcases: flight tracking covers the wait at no charge. When you book, tell us how many boards you carry and the length of the longest. Two shortboards fit with a couple in a sedan. Longboards, or more than two bags, call for the minivan. In Taghazout the main road runs above the old village: the lanes down to the beach are narrow and partly stepped, so the car stops on the main road at the closest point to your surf house. The resort hotels of Taghazout Bay, just south, have door access.
Surf season tips and return timing
The main swell season runs roughly from October to March, when evening arrivals are frequent and camps fill up. The price is the same at night. If you want to buy water or a SIM card on the way, ask for a short stop in Aourir: it is free. For the flight home, leave Taghazout 3 hours before departure.
