The drive from Marrakech Airport to Agadir

Agadir is 250 km south-west of Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK), about 3 hours on a toll motorway that runs almost door to door. The first hour crosses the Haouz plain past Chichaoua. After Imintanoute the road climbs into the western High Atlas: long bends, viaducts and red, bare slopes, with the valley of Argana below. It then drops into the Souss plain, where argan trees and greenhouses line the approach to Agadir. Tolls are included in the price.

Drop-off points in Agadir

Agadir is a modern city with wide streets, and cars reach every address.

• Seafront hotels: the long strip behind the beach, from the centre south to Founty.
• Agadir Marina: apartments at the northern end of the bay. The quays are pedestrian, so the car stops at the entrance barrier.
• City centre and Talborjt: smaller hotels and rented flats. Send a map pin.
• Agadir Al Massira Airport (AGA): about 25 km south-east of the centre, useful for one-way trips.

Staying north of the city, in Tamraght or the surf villages? Book the private transfer to Taghazout instead.

Stops, comfort and return timing

Motorway service areas with fuel, cafés and toilets are spaced along the route, and short stops are free. One break before the mountain section suits most passengers. If anyone in your group is prone to travel sickness, sit them in the front for the climb after Imintanoute.

For a flight from Marrakech, leave Agadir about 6 hours before departure. The motorway is rarely congested, but allow extra time on the last days of holiday periods, when many Moroccan families drive home.
