The drive from Marrakech Airport to Taghazout

Taghazout is a fishing and surf village on the Atlantic, about 20 km north of Agadir. From Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) the trip is 265 km and takes about 3 h 20. Most of it is toll motorway: across the plain to Chichaoua, over the western High Atlas after Imintanoute, then down to the Souss. Near Agadir the car leaves the motorway and follows the coast road north through Aourir, known as Banana Village, and Tamraght.

Where the car stops depends on where you sleep:

• Taghazout village: the houses climb the hill above the beach on narrow lanes and steps. Cars stop on the main road, and you walk the last few minutes. Many surf camps send someone to help with bags.
• Taghazout Bay: the resort hotels just south of the village have their own entrances, and the car drives to reception.
• Tamraght and Aourir: guesthouses sit on steep streets above the road. Send a map pin, since house numbers are rare.

Surfboards, stops and return timing

Tell us how many boards you carry and the length of the longest. A sedan takes passengers and suitcases, not a longboard, so surfers usually book the minivan.
