From Casablanca airport to Marrakech it is 220 km, about 2 h 30 by motorway. The train works well by day but needs one change in Casablanca and takes roughly 3 h 30 to 4 h 30 door to door. How far is Casablanca airport from Marrakech?
Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) sits at Nouaceur, about 30 km south of the city. That matters: the airport is already on the Marrakech side of Casablanca, so a car joins the motorway within minutes and never touches city traffic.
The road is toll motorway almost all the way, past Berrechid, Settat and Ben Guerir. It is flat, straight and well surfaced, with service areas roughly every 50 km. The last stretch into Marrakech is where time is won or lost, especially late afternoon.

Is there a train from Casablanca airport to Marrakech?
Yes, but not a direct one. The airport station is below Terminal 1, a short walk from arrivals. Trains leave roughly once an hour from early morning until around midnight and reach Casa Voyageurs, the main station, in about 45 minutes.
There you change onto the Marrakech line. Some services also let you change at Casa Oasis, one stop earlier, which shortens the detour. The onward ride takes around 2 h 40 to 3 h on a conventional intercity train. The high-speed Al Boraq does not serve this route at the time of writing.
Count 3 h 30 to 4 h in total when the connection is kind, longer when it is not. You can buy one through ticket at the airport station, by machine or at the counter. Fares are typically a few hundred dirhams at most per person, and first class is worth the small supplement for the reserved seat and the luggage space.
What the train does not solve
- Late arrivals. If you land in the evening, the last workable connection may already be gone. Check the timetable against your landing time, then add an hour for passport control and bags.
- Luggage. You carry everything down to the platform, across the interchange and off again.
- The last 4 km. Marrakech station is in Gueliz. You still need a taxi to the medina, the Palmeraie or your hotel.
Is there a bus from Casablanca airport to Marrakech?
Not in any practical sense. The intercity coaches to Marrakech leave from terminals in Casablanca itself, not from the airport, and take around 3 h 30 once they set off. To use one you first travel 30 km north into the city, in the wrong direction, then come back down the same motorway.
The bus only makes sense if you are spending time in Casablanca first. Straight off a flight, the train beats it every time.
Can you take a taxi from the airport rank?
You can. Grand taxis wait outside arrivals and will drive to Marrakech. There is no meter for a run this long, so the fare is whatever you agree before you get in. Settle the price, the currency and whether tolls are included while you are still standing on the pavement.
It is a fair option if you are comfortable negotiating after a long flight. Most travellers are not.
When does a private transfer make sense?
A private transfer from Casablanca airport to Marrakech costs €110 for a sedan (1-3 passengers, 3 suitcases), €130 for a minivan (4-6) and €180 for a minibus (7-14). The price is per vehicle, with tolls, fuel and luggage included, and it is the same at 3 pm or 3 am.
Your driver tracks the flight and waits at the arrivals exit with a name sign. If you land late, the wait costs nothing. You pay the driver in cash on arrival in Marrakech, in euros, dirhams, pounds or dollars. No prepayment.
It is the sensible choice in four cases:
- You land after dark or before the first trains.
- You are three or more. A minivan for six works out at under €22 each.
- You are travelling with children, a pushchair or heavy bags. Child seats are free on request.
- You are staying in a riad or outside the centre, where the station still leaves you a taxi ride short.
Solo by day with a backpack, take the train. It is cheaper and perfectly comfortable.
Practical tips for the road
Ask for a stop if you want one. A short break at a service area for coffee or a cash machine is free, and the halfway point near Settat or Ben Guerir is the usual choice.
