The drive from Marrakech Airport to Rabat

Rabat, the capital of Morocco, is 325 km north of Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK). The trip takes about 3 h 30 and is toll motorway all the way. The first part is the Casablanca road: the Rehamna plain, Ben Guerir, Settat. The car then takes the bypass around Casablanca, without entering the city, and follows the Atlantic coast north past Mohammedia, Bouznika, Skhirat and Temara.

Drop-off points in Rabat

Rabat is calmer and easier to drive in than Casablanca. Where the car stops:

• Hassan, Agdal, Souissi and Hay Riad: hotels, ministries and embassies. Cars reach every door.
• The medina: the lanes are pedestrian. The car stops on the avenue along the walls, for example near Bab el Had, and you walk the last minutes.
• Kasbah of the Udayas: the car stops at the main gate at the top of the ramp, and the blue and white lanes inside are on foot.
• Rabat Ville and Rabat Agdal stations: Agdal is the stop for the Al Boraq high-speed trains to Tangier.
• Rabat-Salé Airport (RBA): across the Bou Regreg river in Salé.

Stops and timing for a same-day return

Motorway service areas with fuel, cafés and toilets are spaced along the route, and short stops are free.

The stretch between Casablanca and Rabat carries commuter traffic on weekday mornings and early evenings, so allow an extra 20 minutes then.
